Connecting with Nature - Qi Gong and Energetic Work with Horses

As our lives become increasingly rushed and fragmented, slowing down and connecting with Nature is essential for our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health. 

Being in a skillful relationship with humans and animals requires that we calm our nervous system, open our awareness and regulate our energy. 

In this workshop we will practice Qi Gong outdoors, energizing and calming ourselves as we enjoy time in nature. 

We will then work with horses to explore connection and how our energy affects their responses to us. 

During our time with the horses we’ll open our awareness and presence to these sentient beings and explore connection and flow. We will be working with the horses from the ground (and will not be riding the horses in this session).

James has been teaching Qi Gong for more than a decade and practicing for more than 20 years. He is a Yoga Therapist, teaches Yoga, Craniosacral Therapy and Qi Gong in DC and internationally.

Roseanna is an experienced life and leadership coach, certified in Equine Assisted Learning. She partners with horses using relational horsemanship and the liberty method. 

This experiential workshop will be held at Fairbrooke Farm, MD.

Horses teach us about ourselves, our relationships and our world. 

By interacting with horses to care for them, and learn how to train and communicate with them we can build skills that will work in the arena and in life. Most everything that happens in interactions with horses parallels situations in our life. Show up with an open heart and mind to gain the wisdom that horses offer. Interacting with horses builds confidence and important life skills. Inquire through the contact page or schedule a time to speak to learn more about what programs might be a good fit for your child.

This option is great for teens either as a stand-alone experience for those who are in a riding program and would like to spend more time learning about and handling horses. This is also a program that works well for those who are on the waiting list at a riding program. Your child can build pre-riding skills that will enable them to communicate better with horses to accelerate and amplify the value and progress in riding lessons. In our experience there is no better way to nurture and grow the human spirit than spending quality time with horses.

We have a deep understanding of, and respect for, horses as sentient beings.

Our work with our horses is based on Josh Nichol's Relational Horsemanship, which includes the elements of leadership, athleticism, and resilience. 

Bill Dorrance's True Horsemanship through Feel, Caroline Resnick's liberty training, and Nashon Cook's approach have been inspirational.

Our sessions typically take place on the ground.

Riding lessons are not being offered at this time. However, please reach out to us for information on horsemanship, pre-riding lessons, groundwork, and riding accident-recovery sessions to rebuild confidence.

If you wish to be added to our waitlist, very limited space occasionally becomes available for a first time riding experience. An emphasis is placed on gaining the skills on the ground that will lead to future happy and safe riding.
