Team Building Sessions
& Retreats

Strong Teams Succeed Together.

Develop a unique experiential learning opportunity tailored to your team. We’ll work with you to create a customized retreat based on your business goals.

Traditional leadership and team-building activities often have effects that fade once participants leave the room. An immersive experience with horses will have immediate and lasting effects.

By the end of the session, your team will have increased trust, built team culture, and created ways to work together more effectively.

Why Team Building?

Why should we do this?

  • To experience what it’s like to have a team who feel connected to each other
  • To create renewed energy in your team
  • Because your team will feel valued and appreciated
  • Because learning with horses is on a whole other level to most professional development
  • Get ready to see a huge return on investment in how your team works together

HOW IT WORKS

Sample Schedule

An example of a one-day team retreat is described below. Each retreat is custom-designed in collaboration with you to meet the goals of your organization and team.

Settling In

Participants take a walk in the woods to transition from the hustle-bustle of life to the peaceful setting of the farm. We follow this will a mindful transition and orientation to the session.

Team Building

Team members come together to complete activities to help them get to know each other better and explore how they coordinate action.

Teamwork & Horses

Members of the team work together with each other and their equine partner to explore themes in leadership, followership, collaboration and communication.

Integration

Participants describe their key take-aways in a closing circle. This deepens learning as the team shares what they have discovered and how it has impacted them.

Round Out the Day

You might choose to add an additional team experience by gathering socially around the fire-circle, or by taking a hike in a nearby park. We are also conveniently located near Lone Oak Brewing Company, a popular post-retreat gathering spot.

OUR METHODOLOGY

Horses are uniquely effective partners for learning and growing.

Equines have a special ability to understand what is going on within us and help us gain insights about ourselves. Like humans, horses engage in complex social dynamics and they can teach us how to navigate relational complexities. Horses help us uncover our innate gifts and inspire us in our quest to develop our best selves.

Want to learn more about how team building can help your organization?

Much of the workplace tension and drama results from losing sight of our own values and the humanity of those around us. Horses bring us back to what is really important.

Experiences have high impact

Teams are burned out from online and classroom-based learning. Often the results don’t stick. Something special and unforgettable happens when people get together in person.

Play together to stay together

There is a lightness that comes over people when they step away from their desks and daily responsibilities. By showing our human side, workplace relationships are strengthened.

Find new ways to move forward

Teams gain collaboration and problem-solving skills that they can take back to the workplace setting. You can expect to see a noticeable shift in team cohesiveness.

MEET THE TEAM

Your Guiding Herd

Our way is to bring humans and horses together to activate their unique gifts as partners, coaches, facilitators, and guides.

Roseanna Stanton, PhD

FOUNDER, COACH, AND FACILITATOR

Roseanna works with organizations and individuals to enable them to realize their goals through coaching, learning & development, and assessments. She has a background in strategy and planning from her 15+ years at Georgetown University and New York University where she accomplished outstanding results through developing, launching, and marketing educational programs. However, she discovered that the real learning happens in the arena of life and that horses are the best teachers and guides.

Certified as a Leadership Coach through the Georgetown University Institute for Transformational Leadership and in Equine Facilitated Learning by the HERD Institute, she creates powerful connections by bringing horses and people together. She holds an MA and Ph.D. from New York University, and “street cred” with her horses.

Wencke Meteling, PhD

COACH AND FACILITATOR

Wencke is a compassionate Leadership Coach and Equine-Partnered Coaching Facilitator. She excels at building trust, connections, and modeling authentic leadership with her clients. She is ICF-certified in Executive Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University’s Institute for Transformational Leadership and has the HERD Institute’s certification in Equine-Facilitated Learning.

Wencke brings to her work over 15 years of international research, teaching, and leadership experience from Cambridge University, Universitaet Marburg, and Johns Hopkins School of International Studies. EQUINE COACHES

Our three equine coach-facilitators are The Grey, The Bay, and The Chestnut. Each of our equine team members has a unique ability to invite humans to gain new awareness and understanding. You will be thrilled to see how different horses step-up to coach based on what is needed in the moment.
